Moving to New York and Storing Your Stuff

by Laura Hawn

You're moving to New York; it has been your lifelong dream. So you pack up your stuff and call some NYC movers to help get your stuff to your new place.

Then, when you get to your new place, you realize it's much too small for all your stuff to fit into. So, what do you do? You don't want to have to get rid of any of the stuff; some of it has sentimental value, and the rest of it you've gotten attached to. Well, the solution is to find a spot to store it.

There are lots of storage places in NYC, and they come in all different sizes. If you have a huge house and you are moving into a tiny apartment, you'll potentially need a big storage unit to store lots of stuff. However, if you are moving into a small apartment from an only slightly bigger one, then you'll only need a little storage unit. There are mini storage units for just that purpose. You just need to know how much space you need before you rent one.

What you should do is a search for "storage NYC" and look through the results that come up. Find out as much as you can about the movers NYC that also offer storage. This is a time saver, because you won't need to hunt for two different corporations; one to move your stuff and one to store it, because the same company will do both.

If you are not sure how much space you need, tell the company how much stuff you have, and they'll tell you how big of a unit you should get. Generally, you need to get a larger size than what you believe that you need, or you may not have room to move around inside it when you visit it trying to find things.
